After long hours of tweaking, I’m happy to announce that the new website is ready for your viewing pleasure. Please visit http://fluiddruid.net for continued shapeshifty goodness!

If you subscribe to this blog via RSS, the new feed address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/fluiddruid (or click the large orange button on the new website!) Please update your feedreaders, as I will not be posting to the old feed from now on.

New Features:

  • Forums! This is the part I’m most excited about. Blogs are great for one-way conversations, but they tend to be lacking for in-depth discussion. I hope to build a good-sized community of fellow WoW players here who are interested in developing their skills. (Of course, if you just want to post lolcats, that’s totally cool too.) Please let me know what you think, either via comments or on the forum. I’m still working on the forum themes…it took me 3 hours tonight to figure out why my theme wasn’t displaying any buttons. Finally realized that the board language was set to American English (enUS) but the theme images were set up for British English (en). Bah.
  • Wowhead tooltips! All those kitty gear guides that I posted previously? Now Powered by Wowhead (TM).
  • Kickin’ styles! Well, sort of. This will be my first site, so I’ve taught myself bits of CSS, PHP, and phpBB over the past few days. I now know enough to be overconfident. :)

About the Ads:

You will quickly notice a small Google Adsense box on the new website, so I’ll address that now. This is up here primarily to appease my significant other, who wants to know why I waste so much time on some silly blog. :) I get a lot of traffic from search engines from people who come here for one of my guides and disappear–this is who I am targeting these ads at. Most of my regular visitors have some sort of adblock tool installed anyway, from what I understand, so hopefully this is not an issue. The forums and RSS feed will remain ad-free. (Unless someone offers me like three figures. Yeah, I’m cheap.)

To Come:

Now that the site coding/design work is at a lull (for now), I’ve got several topics that I hope to knock out posts on soon.

  • Cat Gearing Guide, Part 4 (ICC-25): Let’s get to the good stuff.
  • Kitty Trinket Analysis: Should I use the Deathbringer’s Needle-Encrusted War Token, or the Whispering Verdict of Victory? We’ll figure it out!
  • PanzerKitty: What to Do When the Boss Likes You
  • Advanced Feline Concepts: A few tips on how to eke out extra bits of DPS on each encounter.
  • Auto John F’ing Madden: How to use Ovale to maximize your DPS
  • Why Hunters Must Die for Stealing our Weapons…err, okay, that’s enough for one day.

I’ll be adding many more sites to the blogroll…please post if I’d already talked to you, as I’ve got a lot going on right now. Enjoy the new site!

  1. The site looks awesome! So glad that you were able to migrate the old entries. I look forward to seeing what you have to say about the topics you mentioned. :D

  2. Congrats on the new site! I always appreciate the great resources.

  3. Congrats on the new domain!

  4. You, my friend, kick ass.

A worthy successor to Karthis and Kalon. /bow

From all the good work you’ve already done to the preview of what is yet to come…exactly the stuff I’m interested in.

No.1 on my wish-list: “Kitty Trinket Analysis: Should I use the Deathbringer’s Needle-Encrusted War Token, or the Whispering Verdict of Victory? We’ll figure it out!”

No.2: “Advanced Feline Concepts: A few tips on how to eke out extra bits of DPS on each encounter.”

Don’t forget about Saronite Bombs and macroing Nature’s Grasp to one of your attacks (preferably FB?). From the addon perspective, there’s nothing that beats NeedToKnow coupled with PowerAuras/Proculas (where the first addon gives me a visual on OoC proc and Procusal provides a nice chiming sound).

No.3: “Why Hunters Must Die for Stealing our Weapons…err, okay, that’s enough for one day.”

Hunters? I have no problem with hunters, at least they can make full use of AGILITY (even though I lost DBW to a hunter just two weeks ago ><). What pisses my hat right off my head is warriors and paladins needing (and getting) leather-agility items, since Toskk's MaxWristguards and a few other pieces are close to BiS if not BiS for them. That's just playing ugly…I lost the wrists first to a warrior, and then to a paladin (there's no clear rule on this in our guild, as long as you have prio in the EP/GP system). Me raving about it a couple of times made officers think on it, but the issue still hasn't been solved.

    • Feisty, thanks for the kind words. My particular hunter antipathy occurred due to losing Distant Land to a hunter. (Which is pre-LK BiS for them too, I think, so it’s understandable, but the upgrade is much greater for ferals.)

Thankfully, Cata should solve the problem of using non-standard armor types…but I understand the frustration. I’ve been using the Swift Death bracers for far too long. :)

      • I can relate to both of these. I have 2 hunters in my guild who are chomping at the bit to get Distant land, and I’ve lost plenty of weapons, trinkets, neckpieces, etc. to hunters along the way… so I’m not looking forward to seeing how my luck goes if and when that drops for us.

I lost Death’s Verdict to a DK a few months ago, and DBW to a different DK a month ago… However, I have managed to get both a Vanquisher’s Mark and Toskk’s Maximized Wristguards off Saurfang, so I can’t complain too much, especially considering that none of the three rogues on our team rolled on them! It blew my mind! Hopefully you’ll have better luck soon, Feisty. :)

I’m sort of at the point where there isn’t much I can do to improve my gear, other than a couple of pieces, until a) our 10-man gets past the final 3 bosses in ICC and progresses to heroic mode, and b) our 25-man team can get down anything after Saurfang. So now its all about strategy and skill. I look forward to what you have to say about both gear and skill, Alaron, and thank you for what you’ve already written!

  5. Lookin good – great work on the new site!

  6. I like the new layout. The table/list block styles in the middle of the post are nice :)
