Refresh timing

Postby lamchopp » Wed Apr 03, 2013 2:38 pm

Hey,

I remember reading posts on this but I just wanted a definitive answer that I can look back at at some point for reference on the "safe" times to refresh our bleeds and savage roar. By safe I guess I mean times that would not override the current bleed but extend it thereby maximizing dps.

So what I am asking are the savage roar, rake, rip and thrash refresh timings.

Thanks!

Cheers.

Safe is a rather fluid word in this case. For the actual mechanical times that will prevent tick loss they are:
Rip = 2 seconds
Rake = 3 seconds
SR = 11, 8, 5, 2 seconds

Now if you over write either of the bleeds with a weaker bleed (ie with out TF, or DoC, or trinket proc) the extended tick will lose the extra damage and use the stats of the new bleed. This means you have to pay attention and see if its worth overwriting that last tick for the sake of a MINOR, and I do stress MINOR boost in uptime.

SR is actually 3 seconds (and any multiple of that if you're clipping).

To add to that:
Thrash (Cat): 3 seconds
Thrash (Bear): 2 seconds
Lacerate: 3 seconds

Yes SR tick interval is 3 seconds, but with the Savagery glyph, you will gain the extra tick by refreshing on 11, 8, 5, and 2 (all intervals of 3). If you refresh at 3 seconds you will not get the extra tick.

Well same can be said for any other DoT ;) If you refresh AT the threshold you won't get anything, it always has to be at least a couple milliseconds after.

Na SR is all confusing like that. Unlike the bleeds which can be refreshed any time between their final 2 ticks and get the boost. SR can only be refreshed and gain an extra tick by hitting the exact second. Pretty sure it has to do with how they hit the "ticks" for SR when they modified bleeds to extend.

Refreshing Rake with 3 or less seconds will give you a 15 second Rake.
Refreshing Rip with 2 or less seconds will give you a 18 second Rake.
Refreshing SR with 3 seconds will get 12 seconds (zero combo points), Refreshing SR at 2 seconds will get you a 15 second SR.

I think you're getting confused by the decimal precision of whatever SR display you're looking at. If you 0 CP SR at 2.9 seconds left, you get a 14.9 second SR. If you 0 CP SR at 2.0 seconds left, you get a 14.0 second SR.

If you're using DroodFocus, all timer values are floored/rounded down (at least for icons, not sure about bars), so the moment the timer flips to 2 seconds it is at ~2.9 seconds left. Try it with something where you can see the tenths place on the duration of your SR.
