/sigh. He isn't as unfotunate as me in that regard - with everything reforged away from hit and expertise I am 1479 points of itemisation wasted (3391 expertise & 3318 hit after reforging) RareTrevor

Blizzard is killing me with their itemisation this expansion....

I've gotten zephyrus to load my character one time in the last few days and my reforging was always off (for some reason i'm having massive amounts of crit/haste while my mastery is tanked.) Now I just keep getting this

Thanks for the report. It looks like Zephyrus is scaling the suffix by the item level, whereas Blizzard is not. This seems wrong to me, and was not how it worked pre-5.3. I will have to ask around. If I prevent Catus from scaling the suffix, it matches the armory. What are the in-game stats for your wrist?

An item scaling example: http://www.wowhead.com/item=96742

Using data from previous post: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4574&start=175

{3, 7, 36, 49} are the stats, they correspond to {Agi, Sta, Haste, Mastery}
{5259, 7889, 3246, 3661} are the stat allocation values for each stat (this data is not public)
{1.500, 0.000, 0.500, 1.000} are the socket cost mods (how much to penalize each stat because it has sockets + socket bonus)

Together we have something like: {[Agi, 5259, 1.5], [Sta, 7889, 0], [Haste, 3246, 0.5], [Mastery, 3661, 1]}

This is a helm, and helms get a weight of 1 (MOD_HEAD_CHEST_LEGS_TWOHAND).

It's item level 541.
Code: Select all
    static public int mopStatBudget(int itemLevel, double mod) {
        double a = 3.1303988579149586D;
        double b = 0.009317466726654814D;
        return (int)(0.5 + Math.exp(a + b * itemLevel) * mod);
    }
Using this equation, it's stat budget is: Floor[Exp[3.1303988579149586 + 0.009317466726654814*541]*1] = 3537

Now to compute the actual stats:
Code: Select all
Stat = Round[Stat.statAlloc/10000 * itemBudget - Stat.socketCostMod * socketCost]
(socketCost is 160 in MoP)

Agi = 5259/10000 * 3537 - 1.5 * 160 = 1620
Sta = 7889/10000 * 3537 - 0 * 160 = 2790
Haste = 3246/10000 * 3537 - 0.5 * 160 = 1068
Mastery = 3661/10000 * 3537 - 1 * 160 = 1135

Cool, thanks. As expected, another armory bug. I will just remove the Armory Validation in Zephyrus for v12. I'll try to release this tonight. The only thing holding me back right now is that I'm trying to optimize the "Minimize Cost" function. Sorry that this has been such a cluster fuck.

Thank you for posting what the number SHOULD be though.

Crit: Weight=8 (rest blank)

I'd probably first try it with Prevent checked for Mastery (to get really quick results).
If that sucks, I'd uncheck Prevent.

For this example, it's trying to maximize the objective: Mastery*10+Haste*9+Crit*8
Subject to the constraints: Hit>=2550 and Exp>=2550
Prevent will avoid considering reforges that reforge out of that stat.

It will find the best possible answer.

That seemed like the most intuitive solution to me when I was trying this, but it would never finish reforging, the progress bar just stayed empty.

It used to fall back to random if the space was too big. I don't think it does that anymore. That's probably the issue. It's brute forcing something that's huuuuge. Can you tell me what settings you were trying and with what gear?

I didn't get as far as I wanted with this tonight, but for anyone who was screwed over by various Zephyrus bugs, here is a pre-release of v12 if your still trying to get a good reforging for weekend raiding.

Zephyrus v12 Beta: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/298 ... s-Beta.zip
- Gem/enchant minimization overhaul (much much faster)
- Normal reforging also computes partial minimization and shows differences in-line
- Export profile to Simc
- Break Bonus logic is much greedier (will consider breaking if any gem arrangement is beaten by breaking)
- Removed Armory Validation (Catus scaling matches in-game, Armory is wrong)
- Reveal Cache Directory (show the location of your Cache directory)
- Remote Cache Invalidation (when I make changes to my server-side files or there is problems with the Blizzard armory data, I can remotely cause everyones cache to pull a new version on next launch.)

Things still on my to-do list for v12:
- Check for new bugs
- Change "Can Break Bonuses" checkbox to a menu: "Never Break", "Smart Break", "Always Break"

If you try this beta, please post to this thread if (after clicking "Reveal Cache") the location of the Cache directory somewhere other than directory with Zephyrus.jar. Please include your operating system and Java version. Also, if you test the simc export, let me know if anything is missing/wrong. And as usual, please post any bugs/problems/w/e that you find.

I found a wording error at the simcraft output. Zephyrus uses "upgrade_level" but SimC opperates with "upgrade". After fixing this wording in an Editor I could export the Data perfectly.

Just wanted to let you know that the beta you uploaded is working great on my end. Had some initial hiccups with it saying "invalidating results" or something so then i took the cache from the previous version and put it in the new version and it opened right up and worked properly.

Hey Raffy! First of all, I love you for uploading the beta and working on this so hard. It seems like Zephyrus is getting much closer to working perfectly.

Unfortunately, in the v12 version, whatever was changed with socket bonus breaking didn't work as expected. Zephyrus is breaking bonuses that probably shouldn't be broken (my shoulders, gloves, and belt) and leaving bonuses that aren't very important (my weapon, cloak). This is resulting in massive Agility losses (-360) in exchange for minor secondary stat gain (+360). While secondaries are incredibly useful for Monk, they aren't on par with Agility in a 1:1 comparison.

I'm curious, would there be any way to set up the ability to "lock" certain pieces from breaking bonus, or perhaps only allowing bonus breaking from one color of gem? For instance, I generally don't want to break red bonuses, but generally do want to break blue bonuses, as hit and stam can be entirely wasted, but Agility can't.

I should link my Armory again for reference: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/stormreaver/Frog/advanced

Cool. It was cleaning out your existing cache (might take a few seconds, there's a lot of crap in there.) It should only do this once. The idea is: if I change my server files, or Blizzard screwed up their armory/item data, or simc updated their item data, or wowhead changes stuff, I can update the "Taint" file on my server (which is checked by Catus/Zephyus on launch) and if the new taint number is greater than the last value it saw (it keeps a record of this in your preferences), it knows it needs to clear out the cache and get new versions everything. This is a new v12 feature designed to avoid all of the issues covered in the last few pages of this thread.

In v12 beta, I believe the new reforging method is not properly favoring stamina when you are over the hit cap. I forgot to give stamina a weight, so it thinks being over the hit cap (value of 0) is the same as having stamina (stat * 0 = 0).

For reference, when you click Reforge, it is still doing an exhaustive search in terms of the actual distribution of secondary stats (Hit/Exp/Mastery/Haste/Crit) it's just there are often hundreds of solutions that produce the exact same result, and I'm only showing one (the first one I find). I get the difference/partial minimization calculation for free, so I just included it in the results. Just because normal reforging says "+2 enchants, +8 gems" doesn't mean there isn't a "+1 gem" solution.

When you click Minimize Cost, it takes your current Hit/Exp/Mastery/Haste/Crit, and finds all possible ways of getting that, and shows you the best 1000 options. Still, there are also excessive duplicates removed here as well, because you might have a piece of gear with two yellow sockets, and you can just jiggle where the gems are: +320haste/+320crit or +320crit/+320haste (which would be silly to present as two separate solution.)

The stat difference is a little wonky since it's relative to your armory. So if you change a piece of gear, the agility difference might be really inflated. I might hide this unless your armory gear matches your profile gear for all slots.

I ran into the same issue as him and the same solution worked, however I think it's worth pointing out that I let it run the Invalidating Cache for a few hours and it never moved or ended, so I think there is an issue popping up there.

Also, I wrote a response regarding v12 and never saw it show up and assumed the forum had eaten it somehow, but I think putting an armory link in my post forced it into moderator approval, so there may be two of the exact same posts showing up at some point. :oops:

OK, good to know, I'll check this out. And, the forum ate one of my posts too.
Edit: if you don't have a Cache folder to begin with, it fails, fixed for v12.

Yeah, it looks like it's breaking too many bonuses now. This happens if you have stamina gems enabled, because that basically guarantees that straight yellow is going to beat any combination of gems w/1 stamina gem and socket bonus. The RuneScore doesn't know about agility, so it thinks trading 1 secondary for 1 agility is genius (even though I'm using 2:1 weight for the bonus break logic). I going to try including agility in the RuneScore. I'll keep playing with Frog's armory.

Even with "Hit Only" selected for blues I'm still getting,

Stats: 5 differences
Agility: +280 Agi => -280 Agi
Critical Strike: -34 Crit => +34 Crit
Haste: -34 Haste => +34 Haste
Hit: +18 Hit => -18 Hit
Mastery: -30 Mastery => +30 Mastery

I put the break code back to strict (only break if better than best gemming option), and it gems Frog properly. I think I just need to have a few different break modes. The problem I have is that I can't tell if your going to over the hit/exp cap until after I pick what gems to try, but I need to pick what gems to try, to see if you're over the hit/cap (catch-22). Strict breaking properly respects 2:1 agi/secondary.

Edit: I think I've correctly solved the solution by including Agility (from gems and socket bonuses) into the RuneScore calculation. I'm going to use strict mode, and just let hit/exp be worth 0 weight, which makes breaking aggressive, but not stupid.

I also made it so duplicate (but less efficient) options are removed from suggestion menu. For example, if you have two configurations that give you the same stats, but one causes you to change 1 gems, and the other 5, it will just so the 1 solution. Minimize Cost also is a bit kinder and searches within a small radius of your Mastery/Haste/Crit.

For the curious, here are the gems and breaks considered for Frog's gear with strict mode (the score calculated to the left, including socket bonus.) The break is allowed if is greater-equal to the best non-break score above it.

The breaks you posted seem pretty good. The only issue I noticed was that it's valuing Gloves of Cushioned Air broken at 640, while unbroken is at 560. However, depending on hit/exp values, you could ideally get 760 stats out of a properly gemmed pair, as opposed to only 640 when broken.

Does this have something to do with the way you've valued hit? Also would Zephyrus prefer matching other blue sockets and breaking the Gloves because of the increased value, especially when considering the way the Eye of the Black Prince gem socket seems to be handled on the weapon? It appears to show that both gems are considered on an unbroken socket, instead of just the one necessary gem.

Hit and Exp are worth zero weight for breaking. This is so people that are way over the hit/cap aren't missing out on bonus breaking options.

It will still consider ALL of those options for your gloves. Breaking is a step-up in sophistication from only using what the socket colors suggest (or keeping your existing colors) since all it's doing is adding more possibilities to the permutation space. That list should be equivalent to "these are all the possible gems that should be considered" (their actual relative weights don't matter.) Like, if you have two red sockets with a 9000 agility bonus, theres no sense trying two yellows ever.

Edit: Zephyrus v12 beta 2: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/298 ... s-Beta.zip
(see earlier changes here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4574&start=250#p17161)
- Fixed on Cache Invalidation bug on launch
- Added "Copy Stats" button
- Improved gem/socket "breaking"
- Moved all "raffy" data over to my public dropbox

It used to fall back to random if the space was too big. I don't think it does that anymore. That's probably the issue. It's brute forcing something that's huuuuge. Can you tell me what settings you were trying and with what gear?[/quote]

After trying it again with the newest version, it does seem to work it's just quite slow (perhaps I was just not being patient enough!). Checking "prevent" on Mastery does seem to lower it to an acceptable amount of processing time but it still is far from speedy.

If you want to mess around with it here was the profile I was using with these reforge settings:

ooh someone using CompactGear format :D and wow that worked well, I never used that feature on purpose (Catus v12 has a CompactGear editor like Zephyrus has, in addition to the paperdoll.)

It is slowish: that took 3 minutes on my 8core i7. With prevent on mastery, it takes 15 sec. Is that what you were seeing?

I learned a pretty awesome technique doing the 1:1:1 optimization that will work really well for this reforging method too. I'll spend some time tomorrow fiddling with it. I might make some kind of hybrid reforger, because I think Hit/Exp "weights" are pretty much pointless and really limit the kinds of optimizations I can make. Usually you have a Hit/Exp target (like the 1:1:1 setup) and only the other secondaries have weights.

I think if I did Hit/Exp like 1:1:1 (At Least/Near/At Most) + Search Range, and Intervals (Lower/Upper) + Weights for Mastery/Haste/Crit, I could get instant results (sub-5sec).

If both reforgers could do their work in a few seconds, making a zillion gear profiles and auto-reforging them (like I do for the Trinket Pair ranks) would only take a few minutes. Then, custom Trinket Pair Ranks could be just another feature in Catus.

Zephyrus V12 seems to have a problem with 'Bracers of the Midnight Comet'.

Import fails always claiming that it is impossible to reforge it with Haste > Mastery. Worked in V 11. And is completely wrong. An Item with only Haste can be reforged Haste > Mastery :mrgreen:

My Char equiped with the Bracers:http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/durotan/Zipher/advanced

Since the new Beta version the imported Stats seem buggy(or did I miss smth?). On most stats there are like 100-200 ratings missing.
