armor enchants and bonus armor

Im a little confused and maybe someone will explain it to me.
Why armor is that much desired stat for bears?
I've seen people wearing armor enchants on gloves or wearing trinket so checked myself and difference in physical damage reduction was very very low.
Why bother and dont use mastery instead?
