5.3 PTR Changes (SR Buff!)

This was just datamined and posted on MMO-C a couple mins ago (build 16837):

Savage Roar Finishing move that increases physical damage done by 30% 40%. Only effective in Cat Form. Lasts longer per combo point: 1 point : 18 seconds 2 points: 24 seconds 3 points: 30 seconds 4 points: 36 seconds 5 points: 42 seconds Druid - Feral Spec. 25 Energy. 100 yd range. Instant.


Please keep in mind that PTR builds can and will change and this is not the same as an official patch note.

All I can say is... thank fucking god :o

Hopefully they won't revert this after what happened with 5.2. I thought about this after 5.2 and came to the conclusion the only avenue left was to buff AP or SR. Since Blizzard buffed SR I am guessing it was PvP holding them back from addressing Feral's PvE problems. It should be about a 7.5% buff multiplied by your SR uptime.

Still thinking about that Rip scenario so it's hard to believe this would survive to the live servers but... If it does, would be nice ofc.

The band-aid that was the Rip buff was to try and make up for the fact RPPM isn't very feral friendly. When they took away haste buffs helping proc RPPM it wasn't as critical. I agree with Teddabear that this is able to come in now that PVP has changed.

Buff is a buff which is good but... I not sure if I like the idea of so much of our damage being tied to a self buff. It seems that it would make it even more punishing if you let it drop off.

Do we know if the glyph of SR has changed to reflect this buff or is still the same?

Not sure why the SR glyph would change as it only has to do with 0 combo points. Based on the tweet I got GhostCrawler to respond to I would hope they just make the damn thing baseline. One can hope.

@Tinderhoof Overall, bad glyph. But, some glyphs are fun but very situational. They get underreported because they're used but not for long.

It was probably a reference to the fact that glyphed SR is a different spell (127538 instead of 52610), so Blizzard could easily forget to modify both spells to reflect the change (similarly to how they forgot to make the t15 2-pc affect glyphed SR).

Totally makes sense. Guess we should test this one and let them know early. They broke SR with the glyph in beta too.

Pretty sure it works with or without glyph correctly on PTR, the tooltip shows 40% but the buff 30% but that's just an error, buff is actually in.

Just 10% more damage buff, everything else is the same.

Cheers. I was confused by the "Lasts longer per combo point" line. That is what I was referring too with the SR glyph. If the duration per combo point had been increased I thought the devs might have also increased the duration from the glyph so its was all in proportion.

After the "Rip buff" for 5.2 i believe it when i see it :P It would be nice tho, and probably a way that doesn't cause that much Drama in PvP.

I suppose I'm not too surprised with Ghostcrawler's response to the SR glyph practically being mandatory, not sure why they haven't gone the way of baking it into Feral by now, since they've been doing so with other classes and specs. If this buff does carry through to 5.3 I'll welcome it.

We really need a buff so it better make it to live. Unfortunately we have problems keeping up with a good dk or a warrior as of right now.

Feral is dropping like a rock on Raidbot. I question whether this buff will even be enough. I'm starting to think a 10% AP buff would be better than a SR buff. Scaling problem?

Feral is dropping like a rock this week because they broke Rune. When that is fixed tomorrow the free fall will stop. We are not the best melee right now, but we arn't about to drop out of the bottom either.

Also GC tweeted today about them feeling Ferals could use a boost, so that was why the SR buff went in. It's going to stay.

I'm not a rocket scientist when it comes to scaling but I don't think those two things have different scaling implications.
