T15 Gearing strat

Postby Sorcerer » Tue Mar 19, 2013 7:27 am

Posting in case someone didn't do his own gearing plan and coin rolling plan. It should look similar for everyone.
This is mainly for heroic progression but should work for normal.

* is BiS pre Ra'den
^ is a Sidegrade drop in particular spot, mentioned mainly if the drop is earlier in the tier
~ is a possible sidegrade but not really worth it

Jin-Rohk - Head* / Trinket* / Finger*
Horridon - Weapon* / Wrist^* (this one is tricky as consorts wrist is pure rng) / Neck^
Council - Tier Gloves* / Trinket~ (Lei-Shen normal + Valor)
Tortos - SKIP
Megeara - Neck* / Shoulder^ (no hit on them makes them good item if you break T14/15)
Ji-Kun - Tier legs* / Belt* / Back*
Durumu - SKIP
Primodius - SKIP
Dark Animus - Tier Chest* / Finger* / Legs^ (no hit on them makes them good item if you break T14/T15)
Iron Qon - Tier Shoulder* / Boots*
Twin Consorts - Tier head~ / Wrist*^ (due to rng nature of the extra stat)
Lei-Shen - Trinket* / Chest^ / Weapon (judge on your own)

So the best coin bosses loot like in early progress:
Jin-Rohk
Horridon (roll each week till you get TFed weapon or drop)
Ji-Kun

Thanks a bunch. Having so much trouble with hit rating. It's on so many pieces, even when reforging every pieces with hit I'm still over cap >_< WTB better optimization.

Yeah, 1% overcapped hit as well, but I can't seem to find a good option for getting rid of the rating without getting more loot... Trinket/Weapon/T14gloves/T15shoulders... Naah, don't wanna downgrade anything even to get rid of the hit. :(

I've seen that my only option is to over cap hit or swap out addl haste for it based on my particular gear. I'm losing about 25 mastery, but picking up hundreds of haste in return. I had to back off my reforge quota by 25 mastery in order to have a different piece win out and not strand haste for excess hit cap.

If you checked if each hit piece was an upgrade even with the wasted hit before your started using it, there's really not much you can do. Having higher item level pieces with some hit waste can very definitely be superior to having a bunch of old pieces.

One thing you can do, is if you're really far over you can start changing any Agi/Hit gems out for Agi/Stam gems. Each Hit gem you swap will reduce your hit by 0.47% and you'll gain 1,980 HP with Fortitude.

Hello there.
First of all thank you very much for this.
I have just one problem now: I am at the point where Ra'den is the only boss still standing in ToT and will likely soon fall.

Now my question is. Will the Ra'den chest with 3 red gems replace the t15 chest slot? This would swap the jinrokh head with the t15 one, even tho the set bonus is crit and not agility unfortunately.

Keeping in mind that i am over expertise cap and would therefore replace either my belt or the t15 chest piece as they are the only two pieces besides the jinrokh trinket with expertise on them and both do drop from Ra'den.

I am sure someone else must've thought of this, too.

One thing that should be noted is Bad Juju could be considered the other BiS trinket over Renetaki's as using your bleeds on a Juju proc is easier than using then in the last couple seconds of Renetaki's which is where the agi bonus is higher.

I currently am using RoR + Renetaki's at the moment but am the next in line to get Juju as I let our brewmaster and hunter get their's first.

Yes, the chest off of Ra-den is technically our off piece BiS but a lot of ferals will not get it for a very long time so it's best to get the helm from Jin'Rohk and then get heroic tier helm eventually and save it for when the chest drops.

The Ra'den chest vs Jin'rokh helm is mostly a tossup depending on the gear you have. The former has more hit and the latter has more expertise, which can be make or break on which trinkets you can use to their fullest.

With upgrades in the picture now, Jin'rokh helm is the BiS off-piece because you end up wanting to run Bad Juju either way. The chest was only better before because it allowed you to use Renataki's, but that's not the case when you have a bunch of TF/Upgraded gear.

Ignoring hit/exp, helm offpiece (heroic thunderforged) beats chest by a decent margin. Helm is also fine with Renataki's if you just use Qon boots instead of Ra-den boots (this is a small sacrifice, but not large enough to offset the gain from using helm over chest).

I know most people won't have to worry about it (including me most likely), but out of curiousity, what's our BiS gear setup with TF'd and upgraded (and legendary cloak and whatever else might've been added/changed since the start of the tier) items included?

Edit: Removed the 2nd half of my post as I noticed Aggixx answered that part in an earlier post I forgot about.

Also at what point does JuJu overtake Renataki's. I guess when you get TF'ed expertise pieces and upgrade them? How much of the expertise on Renataki's do you have to use for it to be better (all I guess...)?

This is my BIS list assuming full thunderforged and 2/2 upgraded.
Spoiler: show
Helm: Jin'rokh (Lightning-Eye Hood)
Neck: Megaera (Quadra-Head Brooch)
Shoulder: set (Spaulders of the Haunted Forest)
Back: Ji-kun (Pinionfeather Greatcloak) until legendary
Chest: set (Raiment of the Haunted Forest)
Wrist: Horridon (Bindings of Multiplicative Strikes) or Twin Consorts (Bracers of the Midnight Comet with crit or haste or mastery)
Hands: set (Grips of the Haunted Forest)
Waist: Ra-den (Strap of Murderous Strikes)
Legs: set (Legguards of the Haunted Forest)
Feet: Iron Qon (Spurs of the Storm Cavalry)
Finger: Dark Animus (Gore-Soaked Gear)
Finger: Ra-den (Ra-den's Swift Seal)
Trinket: Jin'rokh (Renataki's Soul Charm)
Trinket: Lei Shen (Rune of Re-Origination)
Weapon: random (Darkwood Spiritstaff)
I'm planning to use Renataki's going into next tier. If you are switching to Bad Juju, that frees you to switch to Ra-den boots (Twist-Toe Tabi) for a modest gain.

Bad Juju + Twist Toe Tabi beats out Rena's + Spurs by a pretty fair margin in Catus. Also, the Horridon bracers are better than the Twins bracers no matter how well itemized they are. This is the set I have in Catus, which is very similar to what Stenhaldi listed:

I came up with this:
I want to use the Ra'den chest as i thought it would be better than set+ offpiece head.
Therefore i cannot use the Ra'den ring with his because i will be over hitcap by about 200.
Using Renataki as the missing expertise on chest clears it for me(also, i hate gnomes so juju is an annoyance to me ;) )

Thoughts?
compared to aggixx's build i lose about 200 on the rune proc but gain 120 agility.
edit: just realised aggixx has no leatherworking enchant so now i'm not quite sure about the agility gain... would be a loss rather.

Thank you for the replies.
Out of more personal interest, has anyone also figured out what the BiS list would be pre-Ra-den, but including everything else (well without Lei Shen heroic aswell, as if you can kill that you can also do Ra-den more or less, but I guess the only difference coming from that is the ilvl on RoRO.

I know. My intuition says to stick with Renataki's so that's what I'm doing. :)

I am asking to clarify. I know on some fights (like Leishen) the bonus can be very rewarding but is it in general a dps increase to drop that bonus for the TF versions (upgraded) of the off-sets? And would you drop Renataki for Bad Juju (both 535 - the other one is Rune of Reforging ofc)?

Reading the first post about possible dropping T15 I was thinking the actual calculations were done and it's a dps increase to do so. Thanks for clearing that.
